A legendary City
In 1998, the holy see conceded Caravaca de la Cruz the celebration of its Jubilee Year in perpetum, which has given the city the opportunity to have a new general development phase and a christian projection for the relic “The Holy Caravacas’ Cross’ which lays in its own city.
The city had already received pilgrims in 1981 and 1996. In the Jubilee Year 2003 the expectation was to receive around the 500.00 visitants along the 12 months but in this case it reached a million tourists.
